2016 恭禧發財

My favorite festival of the year is here~ Chinese New Year! Strange isn't it as most of other's favorite would probably be Christmas. But nah, I find CNY more interesting and a special time to come together with loved ones to catch up and really just sink into the festive mood! The difference for this year was that I woke up at 11:30 a.m. on both 初一 and 初二 because I didn't have to do visiting till in the evenings and also that my relatives would come over to my house. So I had more time this year to apply my makeup properly! Every year, it's like a war trying to put on a full makeup face in (hopefully) 30 minutes which I confirm screw up something somewhere such as the wing of my eyeliner.

But that wasn't a worry this year hehe :)

My apologies to my uneven eyelids! :( I still haven't got the hang of using double eyelid tape yet. Also, I'm wearing Freshkon's Blooming Pink Lens. They're super pretty, comfortable and gave a pop of color and liveliness to my look. Highly recommend these for those looking for colored lens to try!
I took about 1 to 2 hours to do my makeup hahaha. I really was taking my own sweet time but hey, it is a full face makeup with all the contouring and fake lashes so that's alright ... right?

My maroon romper was purchased from Bugis Street and the necklace from The Ordinary Co. They are an online jewelry site based locally and sell super pretty pieces, great for any occasions ranging from simple minimalist designs to statement bold ones! Check them out: http://theordinary.co/

White off shoulder dress: Runway Bandits (http://www.runwaybandits.com/)
Lattice Criss Cross Heels (OOS at the moment :/): Ohvola (http://www.ohvola.com/)

Special thanks to my sister and cousin for helping me take these! I'm seriously troublesome when it comes to pictures LOL

Here's some more photos with some of my cousins and the women in my life hahaha. I love going to my grandma's place because the dishes she cooks are 100% perfection!

That's all for my CNY! Reality hits back again since preliminary examinations are around the corner and guess who ain't even prepared. Me. :(

Looking forward to what next CNY will bring! Till we meet again season of 肉干 and pineapple tarts.

I'm up on Snapchat too - @swxxjyy

Thought Provoking

Hello there! :)

I started this space to allow myself to become more expressive in thoughts and of course, to update my readers with my life currently. Feel free to stay with me as I write about special events in my life, travels, reviews and basically my opinions about anything in general.

I want to start my first post with something that has been lingering in my mind for well, the whole of January now since it is 2016. This year, I want to grow out of my comfort zone just a little more. I had done some venturing out in January by experiencing a couple of events such as working as a magazine promoter at Art Stage 2016 and Contemporary Arts Show and volunteering out at two public events which were giving out food to the elderly and helping out at a baby bash. I got to sink into the world of the arts which was a new aspect to me as I never had the artsy personality I always wish to acquire. (sobs) On the contrary, both my sisters are more the hands on, artsy types so I am forever in awe at their artworks since the best art I can kind of do is ... stickmans.

Also, volunteering at events was also a new for me. Helping out and doing volunteering services has always been a thing on my to do list and I am really glad I got to start out 2016 doing them. I know it is pretty bad but I am the type to want to do something in return for a gain and most of the times are cash LOL. I really want to change this habit of mine so I began volunteering. The sense of satisfaction from giving back to the society without having to get anything back in return was simply satisfying, no joke! :)

Life is pretty cool at the moment. As February arrives, I am still soul searching on how to self improve not just for the next 11 months but for a lifetime, hopefully. I am a believer in starting small, even the littlest acts of kindness or even sharing your positivism with others around you can make a difference. I am the kind of person who sees the negativity in any situations first. This could be quite a challenge for me but I am motivated to improve myself!

Everyday is a game changer, be kind, be positive, be inspired.
Treasure your loved ones more, be adventurous.
In 2016, lets us all be more positive individuals.
Every start of the year, you always tell yourself that you want to be a better person.
But by the end of it, did you really improve?

Signing off,
Jinny
